New KITT at International Auto Show
We've just received word that the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) will be appearing at the North American International Autoshow in Detroit. It runs this month from January 19th till the 26th.
There is a Media preview this weekend on Sunday, we'll let you know if we hear anything new.
The "NEW" K.I.T.T. is a 500 horsepower Ford Mustang Cobra. NBC has behinds the scenes clips on it website that show the unveiling of the car. I am going to give the show a chance when it premieres on February 17th, but I am somewhat disappointed in what the car looks like. This could have been a huge opportunity for GM to re-release an updated Trans-Am. I will always be an "old school" Knight Rider fan.

Why? When I look at this new KnightRider car I almost puke alittle in my mouth and even thats more bareable than the site of this new knockoff of K.I.T.T. A Mustang come on. The idea people responsible and the people who approved of this car to be used should be fired! Even if pontaic doesnt have a K.I.T.T worthy car why on earth would a mustang be used. Needed an American car? Fine...use something alittle less easier to duplicate than this car. A corvette might have been alittle more acceptable, but still looked down upon. Viper would be closer, but unfortunatly its been done already. Viper was a program with to many of the same ideas of KnightRider. Ford fine, maybe a saleen. New Camaro? Fine use the Mustang, but please lose the cobra badge, Stock wheels(the originals were solid looking on the T/A)and the Stripe? Dont argue that the cars ive picked are to flashy for undercover work and dare leave those stripes there! The story lines ive read sound of those that understood the orginal show but, the choice of car is sickening.
I, too, am very, very, VERY discouraged and disappointed that the new KITT is a CrapStang. I really wanted it to be a new Trans Am, or at the very most, a new '09 Camaro. Shoot, I even think a Cobalt or G5 would've qualified to be a better KITT than the 'Stang. The aerodynamics are better on those cars.
I think the reason why they had to go with this "car" is because, sporty and small as it is, they had to have a 4 seater. Don't forget, in the old series, there were those times when Mikey had to have people sit in the back.
However, leave it to GM to completely waste away a perfect opportunity. Yeah, I'll watch the movie and all, but in my mind, the ORIGINAL KITT will always be the KING!

You dorks! I was checking it out because I thought it was cool that they're remaking a cool show I watched as a kid. You queers are taking things a little too hard. Bunch o' retards! Hahahahaha.
Ahhh, I wanted the Pontiac too. Liked the show, love the intro music more! ..I drove through the streets of Los Angeles during 2005-2006, listening to the Knight Rider theme periodically while heading to and from work in a customized superstock black Civic EX. ..All the while, I was thinking about how cool it would be if the show were new again....??
...Well, times have changed since 1985. I'm alot older, 40 now - and Pontiac just isn't "bringing it" like they did in the late 70's or even 80's for that matter. ...So, if the Mustang wants a chance I say give it a chance. Why? The Mustang is probably the ideal car that "tries" to look like a true supercar but just isn't.
Nobody thinks of Mustang anymore as a true SuperCar. Most think about Viper, Corvette, and even TransAm. ...That's why the Mustang is the perfect car for the job. ..A car that looks superfast, but is actually a supersleeper modification! WONDERFUL I SAY!! Makes perfect sense. ...I did this kind of thing with a Maverick in the 80's, - blew the doors off of so many cars that underestimated a stock sounding car that had a super powerful big block with stock mufflers under it. One bad lifter even added to the illusion of wimpy wimpy.
NOTE: I am NOT a Mustang fan. ..They aren't worth $2.00 bucks five years after you buy one, but at least the series is something that might be worth watching instead of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, right????
1. The show is a (forgive the pun), vehicle for sales of the car featured. They cannot use cars that do not exist.
2. The Mustang is the hottest affordable sporty car on the road right now.
3. It is only a TV show. Cars don't talk, or fly.
