Reuters news service is reporting that David Hasselhoff has filed for divorce:

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff is divorcing wife Pamela Bach after 16 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences, his publicist said on Thursday.

Hasselhoff, 53, filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Thursday, and the couple have agreed to an amicable settlement, publicist Judy Katz said.

The actor, also known for starring in the TV drama "Knight Rider," has two daughters with Bach, according to his Web site, http://www.davidhasselhoff.com.

I am amazed. I mean, his news on his site always telling of how she was right there with him, and often his kids too, on trips, excursions, and having a good time and all that. Doesn't seem possible.

But you never know what goes on behind closed doors. I look at it that it's his business anyway, really.

Wishing David all the best with it all.

I was really surprised to read this. It made me very sad they always seem so happy together. I wish them both the very best. I am still hopping this is not true.

Divorce is a subject that hits too close to home for me, so can we talk about something more positive concerning D. Hasselhoff, please?
I'd gladly appreciate it!
If he has to go through with it, I'm glad he's going through with it when he's not so much in the U.S. spotlight.
Guys, this news may or may not be true....

I think the divorce is going to hurt both of them for a long time to come....
I wish them well, and hope for the best for them.

I just read about the divorce on Eonline.com. What a shock. The article also stated this concerning the new Knight Rider movie:

"Hopefully, Hasselhoff has his driving skills back up to speed, as he is headed for a career revival of sorts with a starring role in the big-screen adaptation of Knight Rider, which has been in in the works for some time now.

Hasselhoff is slated to reprise the role of Michael Knight in the film, which is expected to begin shooting this summer with the aim of a December release date."

I wonder where they got the info on the December release date? Good news maybe?

Ok, he's divorcing, but I'd rather not see DH not be raked over the coals over that on entertainment shows at all; I'd rather see those same shows cover something much more positive than divorce....
I'm a fan of DH's, and hopefully the same shows will have something much more positive to talk about him than his divorce. :x   :|  :?

I heard about it on the Today Show, my mother actually called me into the room. I kinda guessed it might be related to that, but last I heard he had got checked into a clinic and got better. I know its one of those habits that is a bitch to kick, my mother side was full of them thanks to WWII.

I feel bad for everyone in the situation.....

I just read about this on Yahoo, and I also agree with Lyn. News of this sort may not be the best for the forum, as there may be a number of members that have gone through a similar traumatic experience. Could there be any good news about DH?

I think this is why he postponed the tour in Australia. All the best to both of them.

It's sad but these things can happen.

And if Bach's reason is because of his heavy use of alcohol then I can see her point as living with an alcoholic is not fair on her or the kids.

Still, David will pick himself up again eventually.

On Pamela Bach's official site is an "Official Statement" link, which sites only "irreconcilable differences" but makes absolutely NO mention of alcohol in the statement.

That sucks.... But I know what it is like to watch your parents go through a divorce..... It blows. I wish them and their children luck after this, and I hope they don't come out with any a emotional scars, because sometimes people can't get over them..... (I would know)

It hurts like a motherf-er, so since Hollyweird is the breakup capital of the world now, I'd advise him to move away from Los Angeles, as soon as the whole divorce mess is overwith for him(he doesn't have to do that if he doesn't want to).
It's not the typical superficial breakup; just one that hurts DH like hell right now.
I hope we can all give him some private time to heal from the divorce mess; Lord knows he needs it!   :? :|

I am sorry if this is a sensitive subject to some people, but it is something that fans care about and we shouldn't pretend it didn't happen. We don't need to know all the personal details; all we need to do is accept it and offer support.

As for the media, I'm not overly worried about them. Sure, there will be a few unfortunate comments. But if you look back over the years at how entertainment news has covered Hasselhoff's alcohol problems, they have generally been pretty supportive. The tone has often been one of "wishing him the best" (unlike with Kelsey Grammer's problems.) I think the media likes Hasselhoff, and won't be too harsh.

Catherine Hickland (his first wife) still speaks highly of David (she was interviewed for a recent biography on A&E or Biography Channel) which is a testament to the kind of man Hasselhoff is; just because two people don't want to remain married doesn't mean they can't still love or respect eachother. There's no reason to think this will be any different.

The most important thing is that WE stay supportive, as I'm sure we all will.
