Hey TurbomanKnight, would you mind using better subject headings? Would make it easier for people to know what your thread is about, instead of freaking me with a subject about death. ;) Or maybe contain all the eBay cars to one thread.

Thanks. :)

Yeah alot of the 3rd gen ones were 10 kinds of slow. My buddy had a 2.8 liter that at the time even I didnt think earned the right to be a Firebird. If its got the V8 it do alright.

The 1982 Firebird's stock Crossfire V8 sucked...didn't churn out very high horses and weren't reliable. Later Trans Ams (1985 onwards) had fuel injection and a more powerful Chevy V8 but I don't know if it had the capability to go 160mph and beyond. If not, its possible to do with a lot of tinkering under the hood (A Corvette ZR-1 or LS1 engine would look nice inside a KITT replica).

IN GENERAL, they're kinda crappy all around. The 80's were full of the "planned obsolescence" models. I'm not saying they can't be good if you take very good care of them, but if you treat them like any other car, chances are you won't get all that far with them...no pun intended.

ANYWAY, that is a beautiful car....and a nearly perfect donor car...T-Tops...right hood, right color, V8 engine...but that blasted interior...lol. And I guess I wouldnt' know, but I can't imagine it's fun to change the interior color.

EDIT: I just noticed this-is that even the right shifter?! :o Gah! And the hubcaps! Holy crap, I want it!!

That Trans Am is so nice, I'd be afraid to mess with perfection by making a K.I.T.T. replica. The owner took such good care of that thing, it's rare you'll find a Trans Am of that year in such good condition with all of those parts replaced. That deal is too good to be true! Hopefully whoever wins the bid will take as good care of it as the owner did. :D

To make it a K.I.T.T. replica, obviously the entire interior would have to be replaced but if you have the money, Knight Rider replica companies can tear out the original interior and replace it with a replica tan interior and also have replica PMD seats.

*drools over the car* god damn it.....i want that car. i saw a 1982 black trans-am in the summer, but it was a hard top. it was about a thousand dollars. it was in quite good condition. at that point, i couldn't drive, so i couldn't buy it. *cries*

The car is a Recaro edition, a rare variety of the Firebird. Those gold rims are actually more expensive today as compared to its silver counterpart (probably because so few of them were produced).

If i got that car i would paint the car all black, ditch the trans am and bird emblems, i wouldput silver turbo cast rims on, redo the interior in tan with brand new PMD replica seats, i would then put in the knight rider dash(fourth season), overhead console, between seat buttons, correct shifter. i would also black out the back lights, put on the knight rider front end with the red scanner, get a registered maine plate that says knight(i am in maine), and finnaly drop in a small block chevy 350 with a performance chip to let the car adjust to the engine modifications. that there would be my dream car but it would be even better if it could do everything kitt could do.that would be beautiful (eyes tear up).
