If a company like a bank or mechanic screws you over, then an angry letter or phone call might get you results. The difference here is that Sci-Fi Channel hasn't done anything wrong; they don't owe us anything. Being angry at them is only going to show ignornance unless you can answer questions like these:

What were the ratings for Knight Rider? There's really no reason to think the ratings were "through the roof". It probably was an average show for them.

What does the syndication contract say? Cable channels often have the rights to air syndicated shows a certain number of times in a certain timeframe. It's the end of a calendar year; did that contract expire? Sci-Fi Channel might not even have the rights to show Knight Rider, even if they wanted to.

What is Sci-Fi Channel's programming philosophy? They have hundreds of old TV shows to choose from, and Knight Rider is consider "fringe" Sci-Fi to begin with. Should they air the same shows over and over again, or should they rotate through their library to attract a broader fan base?

There are a few other items of note here: Sci-Fi shopped KR 'in-house'. Remember, sci-fi is owned by Universal. So most likely, they still have continued rights to continue to air it, but as you very well know, when you show the same show day after day, and only have so many shows to actually show, you hit a point of oversaturation. They most likely saw the ratings numbers fall, and realized they hit oversaturation. (they brought up this concept when they pulled Quantum Leap in their newsletter)

Basically, be respectful, write a letter, post a post in their forum, and as Mike has said, knowledge is power, you will always be taken more seriously if you look like you understand the situation. Try not to explode, you may be angry, but that doesn't help the situation much.

Is there any chance that KR might make it into their weekday rotations? (ya know where they run several episodes of one program back to back from 12:00 to 3:00 or thereabouts) I note that Hercules; the Legendary Journeys is replacing KR, and they have been using that show about once a week in that timeslot.

There is a possibility, but most of those weekly rotations are their higher rated programs, like X-Files. Without knowing what Knight Rider's ratings were, it's virtually impossible to tell.

You never know...Maybe this is a test, maybe Universal is checking to see how high to ratings are for Knight Rider to see if its still popular enough to put on DVD...
