When I moved out to California, the company payed to ship all my stuff from New York, including my car. I think the car added around $1000 to the total bill, but that was about 9 years ago.

If your car is a collector's item such as a KITT replica, or if you want to make sure it's extra protected, it can cost you a lot more. On the other hand, if you go through a company that specializes in car shipping (as opposed to a standard moving company) you might be able to get a better rate.

So basically I don't know, but I think the $1000 figure is a good starting point.

Here's a site that will give you instant estimates, based on what kind of car you are shipping and how far it's going:

http://movingmycar.com/quo/quote4.cfm?qid=78956

I put in a 1994 Firebird going from NY to Florida and it gave me quotes of $595, $895, and $1195 depending on level of service.

I'll warn you that my car had some damage in transport, so be careful about just using the cheapest rate.

I shipped a car from North Carolina to NY State and it was well under $1000 including insurance. Its a company that specializes in it like was recommended in a previous post. Here is the company info. Id give exactlywhat it cost me but the friend that recommended them is in the same business and they have a working relationship and instructed me specifically not to ever give out exact rates.

McNutt
Auto Transport Service
PO BOX 207 Lowry City, MO 64763
(800) 755-2324
Fax (417) 644-2275
E-mail mcnuttautotrans@inter-line.net

Again ive personally used them and was 100% satisfied.

North Carolina to New York is only about half the distance from Florida, and about a third the distance to California, so the rates could be a lot different. But you can't beat a client testimonial.

Anyway, it doesn't look like Dumbledore will be needing the services afterall.

If this if the car you're talking about Dumbledore, then you're getting screwed anyway. It's gonna cost you a mint just to get the damn thing running.

But on the bright side the hood and trunk can stay up on their own :D .

I seen this car on auction before, no ones bitting. It literally is all show and no go.

Ya gotta get your car mechanically sound before you get all the custom pieces on it :?
KITT project is on again!

Currently working on: brand new stock tan interior, almost done!
