Devon's Appreciation of Michael's extra work

It has been discussed at length about Michael not getting enough vacation time, but I was thinking about this recently.
From Devon's perspective, Michael seems to always have other things on his might besides getting to the next Foundation case, but does Devon appreciate the fact that Michael is often solving cases along the way that accomplish exactly what the Foundation was created to do--help the little person who needs it most?
Not to mention, Michael still usually makes it on time to solve the next Foundation case, and Devon still finds something to grump at him about.
It seems that Devon should examine more closely the core of the Foundation's purpose. I have a feeling that many of the cases Michael solves on the side are cases that Wilton Knight would approve of him taking.
