Hey all, I do not know if anyone knows but there is going to be a car show tribute for George Baris this upcoming weekend 8/22-8/24 @ the Cradle Of Aviation in Garden City, NY. I just picked up a flyer when I went to grab some lunch. The websites are http://www.autoseum.org/ and http://www.MoveandTVcars.com. From what I see you can also register to bring your own vehicle and pay to have a meet and greet. Seems interesting and if you just wanna goto the show it is only $7 for an all day pass! I am headin there this weekend.

Thanks for posting this - been meaning to write something up but kept running out of time. I'll be there on Saturday.

For those who can, there is a $50 tailgate on Friday that gives you very close to 1-on-1 access to George Barris, much better than the autograph lines you'ld get over the weekend.

There will be a KITT car there from last I heard.

No problem, I am glad to help out. I am going to try and get there on Saturday. If not Sunday. I contacted the company who is based out of Queens. There will be a Knight Rider car there. No KI3T but hey it didn't hurt to ask.

Neil, I haven't heard back from you regarding the event yet, but I'll end up being there regardless. Not sure which day I'll be making it there, as I work until 5 P.M. Friday, but I also work close by in the next town of Mineola. If I don't make it Friday, I'll definitely be there Saturday.

I plan to get some good shots of all the cars, but mostly the K.I.T.T. replica, of course. I'll probably post them over the weekend.

I was waiting for you to hop into the chat again - but that never happened. :) I spoke to someone at the event, and it didn't look like they were willing to give us any special coverage, so unfortunately I have nothing to tell you about. :( Sorry it didn't work out better.

Friday seems to be for this tailgate type thing only. Hope to run into everyone that is there Saturday, I'll be wearing a KR shirt - my Son in a KRO shirt (he's gotta support the family business!)

No problem. :) I'm not all that surprised, really. I think if it was more of a Knight Rider-centered event we'd have more luck. But seeing as how K.I.T.T. isn't an actual creation of Barris' to begin with, they might anticipate us asking why there's a K.I.T.T. still on display despite his cease and decist letter? Just a thought...

If you look at their blog - the information is a bit all over the place:

http://autoseum.blogspot.com/

I'm not certain of what is happening on Friday - as it now looks like the Tailgate is on Saturday?? Might be worth calling over to, if you have questions I guess.

Take the LIRR to Mineola stop. Then grab a cab, there are tons of them. You will take a short 5-10min ride to the Cradle of Aviation. Take down their number it will probably be All Island Transportation they r the best. They do drop off and pick up.

Yeah, it's a short ride so it shouldn't cost much. I work at the hospital next to that train station.

TurbomanKnight: Stitches on your chin? What happened? (If I may ask)?

For those that are going, please report back if you can with photos, video or even just a report in this thread. I'd love to be able to report about it in the podcast. :)

Was working on my 91 Nissan 240sx fastback parts car when the trunk came crashing down on my head which slammed my head into the body of the car where my upper teeth went through the skin under my lower lip. Went clean right through to the inside of my mouth. Have pics but it may be a little too grim for this topic. lol But overall I'm fine. Thanks for asking!

Will definitely get pics and maybe some video. =D

Yup, I'm a technician over there. Pretty cool to find a fellow fan so close by as well!

TurbomanKnight,

Geez, that sounds brutal. Glad to hear you're OK, though.
