Hasselhoff reality show?

Post by Michael Pajaro » Thu May 05, 2005 10:33 pm

I have a bizarre "only in L.A." story.

I was driving home from work and a co-worker calls me and says

"David Hasselhoff is in our lobby."
"No way."
"I kid you not. There's a camera following him"
"I don't believe it."
"Seriously! Hang on, let me see if I can get him on the phone."

Normally that's not something I would do, I tend to give celebrities a lot of space if I run into them, but my coworker was a lot bolder. He set down the phone and I heard him say

"Excuse me... I'm on the phone with a guy who flew to Germany for the Knight Rider convention."

Then I hear Hasselhoff on the phone.

"Hello? Sorry I missed you there! I was in London during the Knight Rider convention."

I said something along the lines of "that's OK... I actually got to see you at the charity event at Coldstone Creamery last week."

I could hear rumblings in the background as he was being moved on and he said "gotta run, we're working on a reality TV show."

My friend grabbed someone else's camera phone and snapped photos while David was speaking with me.

So that's it. I don't know if this is some new show coming out, or if he is making a special appearance on somebody else's reality show.

Woah, very cool, and very random. I gotta move! ;)

btw: my "very cool" refers to the meet up, not the reality program

Oh, dear. Let's hope he's not following the Reality TV trend! I watch shows like Knight Rider because they're escapist entertainment. If I want reality, I'll go look at one of my bills or take a look at the news! Anyway, very cool indeed!

Wow, cool screen cap! :) I gotta get me one of those phones. LOL! Only I can't afford the monthly subscription. :(

I don't like reality TV either. Hope it's just a quick appearnace and nothing more. I rather see him do something more on the order of, oh say, a Knight Rider movie? (am I hinting here or what? ;) )

Okay, okay, if D. Hasselhoff has to do a reality TV show, I'll freaking watch!
Maybe he can somehow bring a dignity to a totally superficial and horrible TV genre....Wishful thinking, but hey, maybe that can happen!

Well, whatever he does, I just hope it's not for the purposes of self-deprecating humor. It's sad that every star needs to fall back on this strategey which is quickly getting played-out. If stars keep doing it, it'll probably become a cliché. Personally, I think a Reality TV show will take away any hopes of possible credibility that the upcoming Knight Rider movie may have. If David doesn't want to make a mockery of the franchise, I don't think it's a good move. But then again, it's probably all about money. I may sound naïve, but it's just the impression I have.

dignity? maybe you never saw/heard of his other hit show...
it was called Baywatch and featured skinny women in skimpy swimsuits with large chests running in slow motion.

now if that doesnt have "dignity" written all over it, i don't know what does.

Hey I'll watch David's reality show any time of the week...after all...its him that we're all interested in, not the show. I don't watch the Spongebob Squarepants cartoons on TV (yes it airs here in Manila) but I watched the movie last March just because David made a 5-minute or so cameo appearance in the end. Hands down it was worth it. :)

I saw a preview for a new show coming out its called BS TV or something like that where they have normal people do *?$# just to make it on TV... and Hasbeen Stars on doing stuff just to stay on TV. I hope this isnt the reality show hes gonna be on.

Will the show in question be seen in the U.S. or just be shown on TV abroad? Just curious....

I've seen a preview for that one as well. I think it was on VH1. I really hope David isn't that desperate to have to be on that show. Does he seriously want to be compared with Eric Estrada, the ultimate Hasbeen? I never liked reality shows because most of them are either like "Let's see how shallow we are" or "Let's see how much of an ass we can make of ourselves." David has too much going for him to totally degrade himself. Let's hope it's another reality show all together.

Now if David isn't a Gentleman I don't know who is.

Seriously, how many stars out there would talk on the phone with a fan? That is simply delightful. Truly a kind soul.

The only logical explanation I can give to this is that D. Hasselhoff's risk-taker side's kicked in, so maybe that's not a bad thing......

That's very cool that he got on the phone to talk to you Mike.

I gotta throw my hat in the ring with the people who hope he's not really doing a reality show though.

i'm really not a fan of reality TV at all, but D. Hasselhoff's show might be one of very few shows I would consider watching these days...
Just my opinion of the whole matter.

OMG you are so blessed! I can just imagine your feelings when talking to him on the phone. I am glad that you have a picture of that.
