Will 21st century KITT be equipped with weapons.

Post by KNIGHT RAIDER » Sun Feb 27, 2005 12:55 am

Eventhough classic KITT is virtually indestructable, it would be really cool to see 21st century KITT equipped with high tech weapons to make him even more invincible. It was very cool seeing classic KITT firing a lazer in episode "Trust Doesn't Rust", as I hope to see the new version armed with missles and other forms of weapontry, similiar to James Bond's Aston Martin.

Well, this could be tricky. In the video game Knight Rider 2, the classic 1982 Trans Am body was preserved but contained new weapons never seen in the series before. (These protruded from the body just like Super Pursuit Mode.) I don't know what other fans' opinions were (I haven't read the KR2 game thread because I don't have access to the game in America [a PlayStation 2 version] and don't want spoilers if I ever get to play it), but I'd imagine that they want their classic Trans Am true to the show.

I don't know....it would be nice to show an official transition from the Trans Am into the new car or actually show it being destroyed this time as opposed to Knight Rider 2000's expository dialogue. (I'd love for the same old K.I.T.T. to stick around and be the main car too, but it just doesn't seem so realistic with current technology.) I guess the bottom line is whether there's a new car, the same car, or both, new weaponry is inevitable and would definately be welcomed one way or another. :?

Oh, I hope not.

Besides that would be difficult to manage since Kitt cannot jeopardize human life...and if I recall he (at least in the novel) didn't like having the laser...he found having a weapon 'distasteful'.

We have enough shoot-em-up-blow-em-up type shows and movies as it is. It would just change the story too much.

Knight Rider never was about (big) guns!!! Michael rarely used a gun, just in the pilot, can't think of any other moment right now.
KITT was just the car to assist the one man, that could make a difference, and although Michael and KITT became very close, KITT was just a tool, the driver made the decisions. giving KITT weapons would make a tank out of the car, KITT would be an instrument of destruction instead of being an istrument to save and preserve people.
it would go against the dream of whilton knight and everything knight rider stood for!

That is true, however the upcoming KR movie timelime is likely to take place in the present and these are very dangerous times we live in, where people go walking around with guns. Times were different back in the 80's, where people used to settle matters with their fists and knives, where as now they'll just shoot you for the hell of it. :(

Kaine, I think you're right!!!

Knight Rider is about one man making a difference. Michael Knight is that man. If you remember in "Knight of the Phoenix", Devon tells Michael that he can have an army if he needs one. But Michael shows the true Knight Rider spirit when he tells Devon no. He knows that he can make a difference by himself (with KITT's help, of course). Michael doesn't need any big guns to take down any bad guys. I say save the big guns for the Armed Forces.
If you don't make a difference, you are not the Knight Rider.

The thing is, K.I.T.T. as we know him is equipped with defensive weapons, not offensive ones. This is most likely due to the fact that he can't take a human life. I hope this aspect is preserved in the new film and that KITT doesn't become a tank in diguise!

My two cents: I agree with Fantine, Kaine, walter h. anderson and Lost Knight. Having weaponry on KITT would change everything and would take away what made the show so alluring to begin with (at least for me). It would be “just another movie”

KITT can be equipted with a coffee maker for refreshments. It can also be used to throw at bad guys. REMEMBER HOT COFFEE KILLS

That would be pretty cool to see a mobile "Starbucks Coffee Express" built in KITT's dash. It would look sort of like that new Sprite commercial, the one with the little pimp doll with the afro, which featured a pair of Sprite soda dispensers built into the dash of the "Spritemobile" vehicle. :D

In "Not a drop to drink" KITT uses rear-facing rockets that could have been somewhat 'offensive'. He wasn't completely defenceless.
