Oh How Vegas Has Changed Since "Goliath"

Post by Joe Huth » Mon May 17, 2004 3:14 pm

I just returned from my very first trip to Las Vegas. Besides just the amazement of being in such a remarkable place, I've also never been to a place where "Knight Rider" was actually filmed. I wanted to make a point of walking down the same place where Hasselhoff drove KITT into Caesar's Palace...just to get that feeling that they were once there. Not surprisingly, Caesar's has changed consideribly in the last 21 years. The front entrance where Michael pulls into the casino, drives past the water fountains, and parks in front of the entrance, is completely different. The driveway is now a walkway; the front entrance was being completely renovated...it looked nothing like the original. However, the line of tall bushes and the water fountain were still intact. In fact...you can see a headless statue when KITT pulls into Caesar's...it's still there today. Check out a screen shot from "Goliath" and a picture taken last week here:

You lucky guy. :P Its pretty cool that they still have some background details there from decades ago. Adds to the glamour.

The real question is.... how much did you lose to the bandits? ;)

Did you go into Caesers to see KITT? Planet Hollywood in the Forum Shops has one of the KITT miniatures on display. (or at least they used to... I haven't checked in about 2 years.)

IMO, having popup blocking built in by default (without third party add-ons) comes in handy!

But, back on topic . . . some very interesting pics there . . .

I went to Vagas in august 2001.

My brother had a Vagas wedding, whilst I was there I went to Cessar's It was great.

Of course since Knight Rider you have the newer Vagas where hotel's like New york New york and the Luxor, which I stayed in.

I always makes me laugh when I watch Golaith now after Michael beats Garth and the Gaming table, and Garth chasing him.

The just go right out onto open road.

Seeing as vagas is such a vast busy city I think this would be unlikly and they would get stuck in the que after leaving Ceassars, even 21 years ago it must havee been busy.

I must go back there sometime, ok its around 12 hour's here from the Uk but Vagas is well worth it!

I don't know if it's still there... The model is maybe 18"-24" long.

I'd like to think that my scanners would have picked up on that if it were there...seems kinda big to miss...plus I'd kick myself for not getting some shots of it. Oh well...

I want that model! Anyways, on a Polish site, that photo is listed as being from Universal Tours or something like that and they say that that kind of model made over 50% of the Turbo Boosts. Yeah, right.

You guys are lucky, I JUST got back from MY very first trip to Vegas, and wouldn't ya know it, I went to Planet Hollywood in Caesar's and sat at the very table where that very model was hangin'... so yes, it's still there :P It was kinda funny how I stumbled upon it, my friends picked the table, I didn't even notice until I sat down, and even then I only noticed the picture, I was all "Holy crap you guys, it's KITT!!!" and after a moment of me all wistfully excited my friend said "Look up!" and I did and I saw the model right above it, what a treat it was... too bad I had JUST run out of film, that would've been awesome, gettin' a picture of that... I'll have to make it a point to go there again, and soon!

Oh, and it's a lot darker in there without a flash, so I'm not as blind as that picture makes me look :P I noticed that the model was missing the sideview mirror though :( Poor KITT.
