What Do You Think of the Knight 4000?

Post by Knight Industries 3000 » Tue Apr 27, 2004 12:58 am

I was just browsing some online photos of the Knight 4000, and my opinion of the car today is the same as it was when I first watched Knight Rider 2000. I think that car is butt-ugly. Its only redeeming quality is the old scanner light at the front of the car.

I would prefer that a "new" KITT be a custom design rather than one closely based on a stock car like a Trans Am, but surely the Knight Rider 2000 people could have come up with something that actually looked cool, couldn't they? I can't imagine that red monstrosity doing any of KITT's stunts.

I like it, although it's not as good as the Knight 2000. I wouldn't mind driving it.

New guy here! (Just joined the club ;) )

As I understood it, they originally wanted a Pontiac Banshee, but GM declined. So they created the Knight 4000 out of a Stealth ES to resemble the Banshee. Although I LOVED the Banshee, the Knight 4000 just wasn't as sleek. But, it did grow on me after a while. Since then & to my knowledge, the car has been used in the 'CHiPs Reunion' movie & in an episode of 'Power Rangers'. I got the following from http://www.knightrider2000.8m.com
_____________________________

When the producers of Knight Rider 2000 (1991)
went to General Motors and asked for permission to use
the Pontiac Banshee Concept Car for the Knight 4000,
GM declined, saying that if the movie turned into
the series, they would be once again swamped by
requests for the "Knight 4000 Car", as they were for the
Pontiac Trans Am. So the producers turned to Jay Ohrberg
Star Cars Inc. for help. Ohrberg and his staff
constructed a car which resembled the Banshee on top of a
1991 Dodge Stealth.

Why is that a bad thing? It would have been free publicity!

Fo' real :? Oh those crazy GM workers...

I haven't seen Knight Rider 2000 ( :(? ) but I've seen the Knight 4000 and I'm not too fond of it... red paint was actually pretty suitable though.

An episode of Power Rangers... heh heh, for some reason that's a lot more believable than I want it to be

I would like to see a story where K4000 suddenly gets activated and then KITT and K4000 start arguing!

In Power Strangers ( ) the Knight 4000 was a police car.

The one improvement of the Knight 4000 was the full-windshield heads-up-display. It didn't really get used much but it was very cool. I'd like to see something similar brought into the movie.

On the other hand, in the daytime, the Knight 4000 would fit right in. There seem to be more red cars than cars of just about any other color.

I still prefer a black Knight Industries super car.

when they reissued the K4000 model i decided to paint mine black with the traditional tan interior, but since the reisssue has the not correct for the tv car rims as the original, i picked up a AMT dodge stealth RT Turbo model (the K4000 was based on the stealth snap kit/promo model) and put that in side the K4000 body shell, but not before cutting open the 'hood' on the nose of the car and allowing the 300 HP twin turbo stealth engine to be visible. and the stealth came with optional wheels that looked 'similar' to K4000 but the spokes were more upright instead of the angled throwing star look they had.

Hi all its pessimist me! I personally like the Trans Am better but call me biased. Red just isn't KITT... it's more KIFT... and I don't like KIFT... or at least I don't think I like KIFT... *goes off to ponder in her own little world*

I think he said : I did like the voice box in KITT 4000. But it was too out of place because it wasn't broken (as in the old one) so you don't need to fix it. Boy would I love to have been in the room with the new guy devon and michael hired who liquadated KITTS old parts. I would have punched him.

Correct me if I am wrong comet78! I enjoy trying to figure out strange posts LOLOLOL
