Kustom car customizer George Barris passed away today. George was most famous for the 1966 Batmobile as well as other tv & movie cars. George was involved in building the Super Pursuit Mode KITT and the Convertible KITT for the 4th season of Knight Rider. Please join me in remembering the memory of George and his great accomplishments in the custom automotive industry and the television and movie industry. Be sure to read his Wikipedia page on his life and career.

I was lucky enough to meet George Barris a couple of times over the years at various car shows. Please share any stories or memories you have of George.

R. I. P. George Barris

I think I remember reading somewhere that he also designed the cars for power Rangers turbo which had to do with cars that season. I also remember on the 1960`s batman movie DVD he was driving the new batmobile before any episodes of the show were shot to the location when he got pulled over by the police. His one phone call to the studio cleared the matter.

And so, the golden era of Hollywood continues to slip away with only a legacy of excellency, forever preserved to film. May our and future generations hope to continue gathering enjoyment from their moments of existing upon this fragile Earth. For it still does not fully remove the bitter taste of the reality that is mortality and it's time tables that can not be bypassed.

George Barris also customized a bus and a limo for Elvis Presley in the 1960s.
