Classic Knight Rider now streaming on Netflix!

Post by KFCreator » Wed Mar 07, 2012 12:38 pm

Hi everyone, I just thought I would post a friendly heads up that I noticed this morning that Netflix has finally added the entire classic Knight Rider series to their Instant Streaming service, at least for people in the US (I'm not sure about other countries). This is fantastic because while I'm sure a lot of us own the entire series already on DVD, this makes it possible to watch any episode anytime assuming you subscribe to Netflix. Now all they have to do is add Knight Rider (2008), Knight Rider 2000 and Team Knight Rider. Enjoy!

Here in Canada, the whole original series has been on Instant view Netflix for several months, as well as KR08. I would like to see TKR on Netflix too, just to see what It's like. I'm old enough to have seen it when it aired on TV, but never did..

Well, I checked and there are new episodes available now that weren't before, including "White-Line Warriors" and "Knight Song," two episodes of which had a missing song and a missing teaser, respectively. They are both intact now along with the teaser for "The Scent Of Roses" (which was also available last time the series was streaming). I know there was another episode that had omitted music on the DVDs but I can't recall to check. In any event, I don't think the majority of missing Season 3 episodes or two-part episodes have to do with royalties. It's most likely due to the issue of bandwidth and not overloading Netflix's servers.

Not best to speculate more on the missing episodes

I was comparing the PQ between the DVDs and Netflix. I never realized that they cropped the Knight Rider sets until yesterday. I wasn't happy AT ALL, I wish/hope they would go back to the film masters and put them on Blu Ray in the proper aspect ratio.

Only problem is, the proper aspect ration is full screen, which wouldn't look right on widescreen televisions. Netflix automatically wide zooms the picture, so even on that you're losing a bit of picture on the top and bottom as well as minor stretching.

Team Knight Rider is on Hulu. (At least, here in America.) As well as many other classics. Been enjoying Airwolf and Time Tunnel. As well as some 'Animation Domination'.

I agree, but there are also other factors at play here, too. Netflix has deals with movie studios which is a big reason many new releases aren't available until nearly a month after they premiere on Blu-ray/DVD. And their streaming service is much more limited probably so that the studios can push Blu-ray and DVD sales. It's about money.

More episodes have been added including Knight of the Drones. But it is the syndicated 2 part version.
