You know, I'm kind of amazed no one has clued into this yet, but the key seems to lie in the addition of "cyborgnetic" and "exoskeleton." "Cyborg" implies a human element, and "exoskeleton" = armor???

This version of KARR may be a type of transforming powered battlesuit.

What if the military had Graimen incorporate the original KARR's CPU into the prototype, then suddenly it woke up when being tested in Iraq...

And guess which soldier was testing the suit when it ran amok? What if there was a neural "cyborg" interface that blew out - might cause some memory loss, don't you think?
Very interesting point of view!

If I'm thinking what you're thinking that soldier is probably Mike you're referring to and the fact that he suffered some extensive memory loss ties very well with the notion that he does not reckognize the name KARR at all!
Once KARR gets into the "game" perhaps Mike will remember some more of his past...

My guess is (and I've stated this before) since KARR is a cyborg he can transform into virtually anything that's non living (of course) and since Ki3t is the one closest to Mike in terms of partnership KARR will transform into a Mustang just like Ki3t himself and trick Mike into thinking that he's Ki3t when in actual fact he's not.

But wait...look at it this way...all they want is KITTs programing right...does that mean they already have the formula for his nanotech? Or are they going to use the MBS?

Excellent thinking here, I agree that this may even happen! I can't wait to see how this turns out and I hope it is the original CPU from the TOS that they use for KARR!

Ok everyone is talking about KARR an what not. But am I the only one who thinks torres had something to do with the mainframe getting hacked and everything going on at the ssc in the episode. There is that line before the imposter takes the poison when Torres asks who she works for and and she says the samething to him. I think by the end of this season Torres character will change

Theory:
Mike has Karr's cpu in his brain Just like Knight Rider 2000 with that girl and Kitt's processors in her brain.

That's why he can't remember anything - because all his memories are KARR are blocked
That's why when he touched KITT in the previous episodes his files popped up - because Mike is part cyborg.
That's why he said he "know's KARR.

That would also possibly explain - things like - the fact that Mike may not really be Michael Knights son - but in fact the original Knight was just around to keep an eye on Mike Traceur because he has KARR's neural net in his head.

That may also explain all the military secrets -and what the heck is going on with Traceur - Traceur was injured and then the military took him and performed this "experiment" on him.

O_O Radicalas mentioned something like that too, though with Mike being an android instead but either way, that would be messed up... I don't think they would go that route, at least I hope not. When those files came up on KITT's hood it was due to the tattoo supposedly, hmm.. But why would any of KARR's chips be put in anyone's head?

Watching the episode again, Charles mentioned KARR(E)'s body but nothing of the AI unit and something about putting KITT's brain into KARR's body would give them the ultimate weapon. I guess that would be his programming in regards of his "brain" since AI is just code, though I dunno... I'm gonna get a headache.....

Episode 12 now falls on December 17th, which of course means 13 would possibly be on Christmas eve, I wonder if they actually would air it then or if they might hold off until January because that wouldn't be a good time to air any new programming, especially what should be an important episode..

Do we have a schedule for the next few episodes? Because they may hold back a few until Jan- Feb.
KITT: I walked right into that one, didn't I?
Michael: More like Turbo Boosted.

OMG! This sounds REALLY GOOD!!! I wasn't alive during the original series tho, so I will catch up someday. :) I think this was their best episode yet. I don't know about the KARR thing. Did anybody even see all of the pics of him?

Get the DVDs of the original series and get to know KARR and Goliath. It will be really really worth it.

Humm you know I wonder if its better to hold off on TOS at this point, it would be interesting to see new KR with fresh eyes. It's kinda like deciding what order you would show your children Star Wars, 124563?

But here are where the picts of KARR are posted.

ok this might make a few people mad but am i the only one who thinks this KARR thing is stupid
basically from the pics they showed in the latest episode KARR is a transforming robot???

i think the people writing this new knight rider have decided to throw out KARR's name into episodes to make old viewers feel at home and wanna watch.
in the orignal knight rider KARR was the same as KITT apart from being evil and stuff,so why would KARR now be something completly different to KITT??
am i the only one that thinks they have lost the plot here?

if KARR is sopposed to be a prototype of KITT then wouldnt it just be the same?
all this robot thing doesnt seem right, this is knight rider not transformers

Here's an interesting thought: Charles stated that there are only 3 Neural systems that support KITT. KITT, the back up and KARR.

Now, was Charles referring to KI2T or did he mean KI3T? If it's the case of KI3T, then they're acting as if KI2T never existed. Or am I getting the facts confused?

And like the rest of you, I too am hoping that it's Trans Am KARR that comes back, not KARR transformer.

Apparently you didn't read the topic, I don't think most of us are exactly thrilled so far with this turn of events. I know I'm not... Episodes 12 and 13 are going to be very important...
gillmacca wrote:Haven't read the whole thread so don't know if someone has mentioned this, but I can't see how Kitt in his current form as a car can take on KARR (as a robot). I'm sure KARR will have weapons, and all KITT can do is run away, unless he can transform into a robot (might be in his database).

Another thought on how to bring the old KITT back is, to have the original Michael Knight being asked to drive KITT on some misson (possible to save son). He turn's it down as it wouldn't be the same. Graiman then says, 'Maybe this will help'. Then turns to KITT as he transforms into a trans-am
How would that "help" when this KITT isn't the original KITT??

First, this was definitely one of the better episodes of the 1st season thus far. It was riveting and kept me glued to the TV set. Even my kids who are 2 and 3, watched in the same way I did when I watched the original back in the day.

As for the plot, I like the reference to KARR. However, lets consider this. When the original Knight Industries 2K battled KARR, we know KARR was smashed to smithereens. The car parts were toast, scanner was intact, and most importantly the central processor that housed the essence of KARR survived. However, the CPU for the original KARR would be today approximately over 20 years to almost 30 years old. Also consider that in the original episode "KITT vs KARR", the laser beam was bounced back to KARR and sent an electrical surge through KARR's systems. Undoubtedly the CPU had to be damaged in that electrical/laser surge.

Which begs a few questions. If they took an over 20 year old CPU and integrated it to modern systems, would that be a huge hinderance to this robot? We're talking programming languages, bus speeds, memory, and other technical constraints from KARR's original CPU. Secondly, if the CPU was damaged, wouldn't it make sense to transfer KARR essence to a more modern CPU? Even a low powered energy discharge can cause all kinds of problems. We're talking a laser that was designed to completely disrupt the vehicle and CPU here.

I think this is what happened. A military defense contractor probably stumbled upon this CPU and wreckage. They probably took KARR's original CPU and reintegrated it into a super computer to recompile and repair his program. Then they upgraded the program and put him into a modern CPU. Then as Graiman was created this prototype, KARR was put in by this contractor without Graiman's knowledge and it went rogue in Iraq. All the damage we saw from the bonus clips, indicate that KARR was defeated. In the aftermath analysis, Graiman discovered KARR's programming. Thats lead him to create the self destruct program. I don't see how Graiman would intentionally repair, rebuild, and reuse KARR, if he help create KARR in the first place. It would make more sense that a defense contractor tinkered with KARR, thinking they could correct the anomaly in KARR's programming.

Now we have this group intent on capturing KITT 2k3 or his files. They probably have re-created the KARR exoskeleton but need the CPU to make it all work. Some how or another either the original or upgraded KARR is going to show up. What better revenge against Michael Knight, than to destroy the son and the next version of the vehicle that destroyed him. Either way, I can't wait. But I do hope they explain if this is the original KARR or a new version. Good luck to the writers, because either way its going to be tricky.

Yeah, but for someone seeing Star Wars for the first time, going in that order kind of ruins the classic twist with Vader revealing to Luke that he's his father. Granted, in this day and age I doubt there are very many people who don't know that. I just think that order sets everything up much better for greater impact. :D

You just have to explain why technology regressed so much, outside of just our technology moving much further long. But you'd have to do that anyway, heh.

I really feel the need to point out the obvious issues and question here.

KARR :karr: the Knight Automated Roving Robot was the prototype to Knight Industries Two Thousand :kitt: . Programmed for self preservation, turned evil and had be deactivated and eventually destroyed.

If Charles Graimen built the two thousand series KITT and then he most likely would have built the original KARR.

Question being: Why on earth would he build another Knight Automated Roving Cybernetic Robot (KARCR) programmed for self preservation that obviously turned evil and had to be deactivated, as a prototype to the new Three Thousand series KITT?

It makes no sense that they need the new KITT’s files to reactivate the original KARR, and there is no evidence that Michael has a computer chip in his head from KARCR. More likely is the possibility he fought KARCR in the past or KARCR was part of that special operations file Agent Rivi gave him when she “killed Mike Tracuer”

Charles doesn’t seem to be the type to repeat a make mistakes and although there are a few references and teasers relating to Knight Rider TOS.

No my friends, I do not believe will we ever see the Knight Industries Two Thousand or its evil counterpart in this show. As for Goliath and Garth Knight I doubt it.

It is quite apparent to me they have resurrected KARR in name only and we can look forward to CGI special effects in some kind of six million dollar man meets robo tech and transformers. I am sure it will be entertaining and impressive but it wont be the KARR you think its going to be, it will be the KARCR.

The producers seem hell bent on teasing us with names and references, to keep us hooked but are steadfast in doing this their way with new characters. This in itself is not a bad thing it is merely a different thing.

The show is getting better in some areas and different in others, I agree KITT is evolving nicely, but like the ads said "this isn’t your fathers knight rider" it’s a whole new show, so I although I commend you for your well thought out concepts a unique ways to bring the old favorites back. I will be very surprised if we ever see the beloved black trans am again.

Now that being said, I would openly challenge the producers of Knight Rider 08 to prove me wrong.

These are all very good questions. The only way it can make sense in my mind is that KARCRE is somehow made up of original KARR or his programing. Cause like you say, why would anyone make something again years later with the same flawed technology (Unless you're GM and you're building an electric car that is)... And then why would they give it the same name as a previous failed attempt.

Now even though KI3T says "my prototype" he could theoretically be speaking of original KARR, because in a way both KARR and KI2T were prototypes to KI3T.

I still wanted to discuss Star Wars but decided to take it up over here...

:kittside: I was hoping that KITT was going to turn into a Trans am for his halooween costume in this episode. It would have been a great way to revive the Pontiac KITT!

That'd be like going to a party as yer Dad...

the funny thing is that this new KARR development has done what the writers needed to accomplish; it sparked more people to talk about KR. It speaks volumes that we all seem to wish the writers should/could have known that KARR is a very important piece of the original story. It makes you wonder if Uncle Garth and his big rig will make some sort of return...? Or will the writers totally screw/redo this somehow?

And will Goliath turn into Optimus Prime? LOL
