Where to buy Season 1/2 Overlays

Post by corlando52 » Sat Sep 27, 2008 1:08 am

Where can I get a good set of Season 1/2 overlays for my dash? I am going to get the Jupitere electronics, but Chris isn't offering overlays (yet).
OR, if anyone has some really good, flat pictures of them, I might try to make a set myself.

Thanks!

Chris

Different people will recommend different places to get them. But I personally like Brian Thones overlays.

Thanks! I went to his website and it looks impressive. No information about if he's selling this. I will contact him directly. I haven't heard back from Chris at Jupitere, so I'm looking for the whole package, electronics and all. Thanks again!

Chris / JupiterE will soon be selling overlays for his electronics...

I have not gotten a time frame / price or pics yet, but he told me soon.

Yes, I just heard from Chris as well, and he said they are in the works. I hope it is soon.
I wrote to Brian because his site doesn't say anything about him selling, just his projects.
I haven't heard back from him yet.

Thanks! I might go for them Brian's are $250, which is really reasonable, but I could save $100 if this goes for the opening bid.

Why do I have to write this twice?
Anyway, the overlays on ebay are Brians earlier ones, and have some font inaccuracies. I decided to order directly from Brian and get the newer, more accurate ones. I also ordered the electronics and countdown from Jupitere.
Thanks everyone for all the information and for looking out for me.
I'm having mechanical trouble with KITT. He doesn't want to start, and sustain and idle. But when he does start, he begins to roll backward, even in PARK. I suspect it's the linkage, but now I'll have to get it flatbedded back to my mechanic. I can't get a break!

Where abouts in Long Island are you located? What car are you using for the conversion? What's in it? 8)

I live in Centereach, Long Island, just south of Stonybrook University. The car is a 1984 Firebird SE, 6 cyl. 2.8 liter, auto transmission. It has the shark nose with scanner, overhead console installed. Also came with lower console, pods and steering wheel not installed. Oh, and the fiberglass dash, sans electronics.
ANY help is greatly appreciated. I don't want to pay to have it flatbedded to my mechanics again. I'm running out of money!!!

Thanks!

Well, it's official. KITT is stuck in reverse. I put in some dry gas, and he started, but no matter what gear I put the shift lever in, he'd stay in reverse. So, I'm guessing it's got to be the linkage. Now I have to figure out what to do about it.

Thanks! Good to know. I'll put you guys in my Favorites. I think it's been established that it's probably the transmission cable snapped. I still haven't been under the car, so don't know for sure. I'm trying to find out how much one costs..

Just to let everyone know, the shifter cable broke at the transmission, so the tranny was stuck in reverse, but the shifter was telling it the car it was in park so it was ok to start. Long (very long) story short, I replaced the cable and now KITT is running fine...albeit hard to start when cold.
Now I need a tan interior...(mine's black)
