I never had a problem with it. It suited him very well, especially when he used humor.

...i want KITT...I'll even take that little portable TV!!!
Michael: "KITT! Where are ya?!"
K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"

It was quite appropriate and well casted, I thought. However, in KR2000, he sounded absolutley terrible. The "computerised" sound was gone, and he was rude, and swore. Well, compared to the series, "crap" was pretty bad. His voice just sounded like a voice-over, dubbed in later, as opposed to the voice of the vehicle(s) in question. Rather disappointing.

William Daniels was probably unable to reproduce the same effect he did beforehand during the series, and therefore the loss of "quality" we heard was the result.

They could have spent more time in the studio making him sound more like he originally did...

Sure could have. Just cut down the sampling rate when recording his voice and it would have had a nice "AM radio announcer" sound like the original series.

I think everything in KR2000 was very disappointing.

In the words of Kitt himself..... "It was crap!"

My first contribution!

Post by Kay.G.Hardelt » Fri Jul 18, 2003 1:10 pm

Hello!

I'm new on this forum and my nickname is Kay.G.Hardelt, my real name is also Kay G. Hardelt. I'm active on german Knight Rider forum ( Knight Rider Board ) with same nickname. My English isn't very good, but I hope you can understand it! :) If not, please tell me!

But now I want to say something to K.I.T.T.'s voice.

I think that the best voice of K.I.T.T. is the German voice! :D Gottfried Kramer has allways done a very good job! What do you think?

I mean that K.I.T.T.'s native language is a little bit strange for a German television viewer.

But that seems to be regular!

This was my first contribution and I hope you was able to understand it!

Hello Kay! You wouldn't happen to have a clip of Kitt's German voice would you?

Hi Kay welcome aboard the Knight Rider board.

Your English is better than some of the posters in here who speak English as their first language.

I like KITT's voice, William Daniels has perfect voice for KITT. I even watched the "boy meets world" only for listening Mr. Feeny and imagined that KITT is talking :D

I also like KARR's voice in Trust Doesn't Rust but I think it would've been better if the same voice actor was in KITTvsKARR too.
Well, as a "Knight Rider" explanation: KARR as well as KITT is a computer and he can change he's voice anyway he wants and in KvsK he wanted to sound evil...

KITT's voice is 99.9% of his character! That "Connecticut upper crust" quality, as it's described in Knight Rider Legacy, is a great contrast to Michael's "average" voice. KITT's voice also fit his often haughty, snooty attitude.

Welcome to the board Kay!

I love KITTs voice, and will often close my eyes when I see William Daniels in a role because it sounds much better to me when I don't see him there. Not to offend William Daniels, but it kind of breaks the wall for me.

I also like KITT's voice. Actually, I prefer KITT's voice from early season 1. His voice was more computerized and less human, which if a KITT existed today, it might sound computerized.

An interesting side not to KITT's voice.

His voice changed a few times during season 1, from being computerized (red voice box), to more human, but with a constant tone (3 Bar) to the most human (3 bar) which lasted through the rest of the series.

I agree, only Daniels registers in my mind as KITT's voice. I can't think of anyone else, either in the 80's or today, who has his kind of voice.

Welp, on a somewhat related topic, I think there's at least ONE thing TKR did right. In one episode they made a holographic image of what KITT might look like, and they did a good job. It was basically a guy in a suit, which is what I always pictured KITT's "human" side would look like.

What KITT looked like? What do you mean? Did they resurrect him or something? I didn't think that TKR had many references to the original series. :kitt2:

No, they didn't ressurrect him. I think they somehow accessed an old program which created a holo-image of KITT in "human form" or something like that. I don't remember because honestly, TKR was pretty bad IMO. But they did have a few KR references (esp in "KRO").

Ok, you've gotten me curious now. Does anyone have a screen shot of this? Do you remember who the actor was?

He was also housed on board Sky One, is a basketball sized case, guess he's not afraid of flying anymore huh?  I'm sure theres a pic of it, somewhere, and it probably would of been explained if TKR went for another season.

Why didn't they use KITT's real voice for shadow? Bah Humbug. TKR was such a letdown. :dash4:
