Here's something I think EVERYONE agrees on...

When they first announced that there was going to be a new KITT for season 4, I think we all assumed that it was going to be a permanent style change. In other words, KITT wouldn't transform in any way, he just always have whatever the new body-styling was going to be. Imagine if KITT was ALWAYS in SPM mode. That would have definitely been a bad thing.

well, ive always agreed that SPM totally rocks and i think to those ppl who hate it and that think it makes kitt look too futuristic, remember kitt only needs to use SPM when necessary so its not like he is like that all the time.

hell, kitt does all these other things so little "wings and nobs" coming out of his body and goin even faster is no problem for me.

All I can say is, I wouldn't mind having SPM:-)

He only ever used the EBS while in SPM, but could he use it in nomal?

I always wanted the show to show all of KITT while he was transforming, instead of each individual wing. I mean, i know why they didn't/couldn't, but i always wanted to see it.

That's okay Neil, these things are bound to happen from time to time. I don't mind if the topic is locked, we can always resurrect the topic at a later date.

Thanks

SPM Ruled. I didn't like KITT in convertable though. I really don't like any car in convertable. It took away from the look of the TransAm. T-tops are the best. But, SPM was the ultimate!!!!!!!!!!!!! :kitt2: :dash:

Emergency Braking System, hmmmmm. My problem with THAT particular feature is it had an airbrake on the roof. What happened to the sunroof panels? Did they still work? Also, we all know that locking up wheels is the WORST way to stop in a hurry, hence ABS, or Anti-lock Braking Systems. Still, it looked effective, I guess.

I like SPM. I don't know why, really, but I do. I think it looks pretty cool after night.

Woah, you guys should check this site out we just found (aussieknight). Although I'm willing to take heat if it has been brought up before.

http://www.robertwebb.com/knight.htm

Robert Webb, was an Artist with George Barris when Universal came to Barris for help on the update to KITT. He has concept sketches and in progress photos of SPM as well as a detailed story. It is quite an interesting read and find. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Anyone else noticed that the nose wasn't correct when in SPM? If you moved the nose forward from the bumper join like it was supposed to, you would've left the scanner on the body. I think that's what the game actually shows. They've added a slight top to the nose and fitted the scanner anyway. WRONG!! :kitt2:

:kitt2:

I enjoyed SPM but I didn't much care for the EBS. The bit with the flaps on top where the T Tops are suppose to be made it look like junk. I think they made an attempt at showing there were still T Tops after hitting the EBS. I think Mike was about to be ejected out of his seat when they showed that part.

BTW - when are there going to be SPM Emoticons or is there any consideration to have them ?

I agree that the scanner should have stayed on KITT's main body; in SPM, it looked weird when it was attached to the nose. It also looked too thin and pinkish rather than red (maybe it's just my imagination).

I thought SPM was awesome at first, but then when KITT did it several times per episode it got annoying (as cool as it was, I didn't want to see it that many times). As the season went on KITT used it less, which was good. I still loved seeing it engage at night (which unfortunately only happend in two episodes if I remember correctly).

I was actually getting pretty tired of KR in general
(only because I watched every episode in sequence and it got kinda boring after awhile) up until a certain moment at the end of KOTJ - and it wasn't even SPM. It's at the very end of the episode, when Michael engages convertible mode. The scene has this beautiful, soft piano music as KITT's roof slides down, and I literally fell back in love with the car right there. I was like, "man, now I remember how simplisticly cool this car can be..."

I like the transformation scene where all the bits pop out...but the actual SPM itself and the final look of the car... I didn't like.

I think it made Kitt look silly.

I remember reading an article many years ago about KR finishing, where David Hasselhoff actually said that he thought they had taken the show as far as it could go and he thought SPM was silly.

So I'm guessing there wont be any SPM in the KR movie.... Although they could make it more subtle... with things like 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering engage, and suspension alters the height of the car, maybe the air spoiler on the back raises a bit and the front air scoop lowers.

I do like the idea of some sort of change, from normal cruise mode to something symbolizing speed.
