Here's an interesting new article just released a few hours ago about some guy in the UK with a replica built in the US that has gotten a deal to have his car seen in the new movie:

Real or Rumor? 8)

But they're not making a Knight Rider Spoof movie. When Hasselhoff was poking around for production company's, one offered that, but he turned it down. He didnt' want a Knight Rider Starsky & Hutch

So I would say it's a rumor.

EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED

OK, I don't think we have to worry about anything here. This is not THE Knight Rider movie David Hasselhoff is doing. It sounds like some cheap bargain-bin movie some independent film-maker is putting together.

Think about it: why would a "real" movie studio need to track down a replica? They'd just build their own. And the article says it will have "an international DVD release". That means it's straight-to-video, and frankly it is not difficult to be international in Europe.

I think this is a great opportunity for the replica owner and the movie might actualluy be pretty funny, but I doubt it will have any impact on the Hollywood version whatsoever.

Doing some googling:

"Ara, an IT manager from Aberdeen, has been making short action films for the past few years in his spare time. Made with next to no budget using an 8mm camera and a cast including friends and family Ara's films are surprisingly accomplished and also give him a platform to display his amazing martial arts techniques."

It sounds to me like this Knight Rider movie will be more of a short film. It would be great if it could make it into a film festival.

This is nothing but a spoof movie, and it doesn't appear that David H. will play a part in it. Come to think of it, who will drive KITT? The article didn't even provide that information.

Yeah when I first read it, I thought they meant the car would really be featured in the real KR movie for a small segement, but after I read it again it does look like they are talking about a movie that's gonna be a KR knock-off.

Well at least KITT is getting around to other places. I'm sure the real movie will be along any day now.

Anyone know who this owner is? Is he registered with the Knight Replicas or Registries?

I'd like to see some details on his car.

Makes me wonder how universal will take it when the see him making money off their idea. :? But I really would like to see this movie and know more about the car. Maybe they might have that info on the DVD? Wonder if it'll be available somehow for those in the US when it is released?

It's a nice season 4 car. the interior is beautiful. It's just it has three fog lights on each side and the middle light on each side is yellow(?).

Could be a legality issue to drive it in the UK, but KITT doesn't have turn signals up front. that is why I don't have any (until I get my first fix-it ticket :) ).

Other than that I'd say it is pretty close to perfect.

The Paiaya Films website has a link to a local news report on the replica. The video is just under 2 minutes and 4.69MB. http://www.sublime.co.uk/ara2/video/ara_knight.wmv

I have to say I like this trailer. Looks pretty well done for a low budget film. Somehow it seems to capture the action element that the series had. :)

Thx, Lost Knight. I guess we'll have to wait until 2006 (at the rate the DVDs are coming out) to see that one again. :) Gotta be hilarious!

Come out in US theaters? I doubt it. Its not a "real" movie, it must come from Hollywood (Universal Studios) itself for they are the ones who made the original series. Your best bet if you really want to watch it when it comes out is to buy the tape or DVD from ebay. But to watch it in a big time movie house? I don't think so...sorry.
