Okay, I've seen about one episode of Spongebob and dislike it thoroughly. However, I jus tsaw a commercial for the movie where spongebob and his friend on the beach and shadow is over them.

"Who're you?"
Camera switches to him standing there, "I'm David Hasselhoff!"

What's up with that?

I thought that I had drempt that.

Hasselhoff in his Baywatch days. I wish it was KR days. Could you imagine Spongebob meeting up with KITT?

LOL! I think KITT would run him over and say "Michael, I think I just ran over a live sponge."

Yup, David Hasselhoff is in the new Spongebob movie, along with quite alot of other stars. Michael Pajaro posted a clip of this about a month ago after it was aired on Entertainment Tonight. The clip is still linked from this thread:

Here is some more of Hasselhoff talking about his role. A 700lb replica?? Where is the eBay auction for this one?

He's all over every TV commercial I see for this movie, that's pretty great.

Variety had a blurb on the Premiere of the Spongebob movie:

David Hasselhoff was getting an enormous charge from the 4-year-olds' adulation. Imagine - "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch" to "SpongeBob." They were lined up tugging at him for autographs. "I have a whole new legion of fans," he beamed. "Imagine coming from rescuing Pamela Anderson to co-starring with a sponge." And before the kiddie pic, he appeared in "Dodge Ball" and John Waters' "A Dirty Shame" in a far out scene in the bathroom of a plane. P.S. David's now busy working on feature versions of "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider."

Last we heard Hasselhoff had not signed on to be involved with the Baywatch movie, so that last sentence may be a bit misleading.

I wonder where Variety got their info regarding the Baywatch/Knight Rider quote. As far as we all know, David hasn't inked any contracts regarding those two franchises. But if we're all wrong and there is something going on, then I will be one happy man.

I'm not sure how I'd feel if Hasselhoff were to be involved in the Baywatch movie. If was just as a cameo, fine, I'd be OK with that. But it gets complicated if were to be the star or be involved as a producer. On the one hand, assuming Baywatch moved forward it would mean less time to spend on Knight Rider and that could push back the project. On the other hand, if KR were delayed a year or two and Hasselhoff had a huge hit with a Baywatch movie, he would have a lot more power (and money) to make the Knight Rider movie he wanted, without compromising a lot for the studios. On the third hand, if the Baywatch movie were to flop, it would become a lot harder for Hasselhoff to do Knight Rider.

I'd feel most comfortable if he had a minimal role with Baywatch and just did Knight Rider.

I agree with Mike. Plus I wasn't really into Baywatch anyway so they can recast it if they wanted to.

To be honest though I think its way to soon for a Baywatch project anyway. The tv movie wasn't very successful and the original series just ended 2 or year years ago. Baywatch has run its course. Besides its Knight Rider's turn.

Well, let's be fair...the KR TV movie didn't do all that well either...but you're right about how it is KR's turn. It is significantly older than Baywatch and...William Daniels won't live forever :(

And neither will David...both of them are getting pretty old. And then there's Patti...Rebecca...all of them are getting old. Father Time isn't waiting around for anybody, I hope the bosses of Hollywood realize that.

Maybe Knight Rider 2000 wasn't ultra successful, but I spoke to NBC about it when it aired and asked them would it become a series. I was told while its ratings were good it wasn't good enough to generate automatic plans for a new series. So it certainly wasn't a flop.

I just saw the movie (yes I am a Spongebob fan) It was funny as heck. It's well worth going to see the move just because David is in it even if he only is seen about 4 minuets.

Since you saw the movie, I think you wouldn't mind clearing this up for me? How is Spongebob and Patrick able to walk on land all of a sudden? Thank You! :D

They just did even if they dry up on land. They do get dryed up but they were placed under a light (I don't want to give anything away  ) but it was one of the best parts in the movie. The part with David was also one of the best parts.

Good film, good film.

My five year old sister called out "David Hasselhoff!" when he appeared on screen. *She* knows who he is. LoL!
