FLAG says "Vote!"

Post by Michael Pajaro » Wed Oct 27, 2004 1:19 am

I'm not sure if I have this buried on tape some place or not...

I think it was in 1984, Knight Rider had a Public Service Announcement telling people to go out and vote. It basically had Michael, Bonnie and Devon standing behind KITT inside the Semi, with a big American flag on the wall. Hasselhoff sais something like "This Tuesday, you have a power that even KITT doesn't have: the power to vote."

It would be a nice clip to share if anyone has it.

Mike - I think I speak for quite a few here when I say - start digging through those tapes of yours! It sounds like a great clip that I'm sure we'd all like to see :)

You mean, MOST would enjoy this clip but not ALL. Please don't speak for me. I speak for myself. :) I'm one of those that after the polls close and the decision is made, I'm relieved it's over with. This is the season each year I turn off my phone ringer and erase answering machine messages after the first word from someone I don't recognize the voice to. I'm VERY hard to get ahold of during election season. I rather not hear a thing about politics. I prefer to do my own research and make my own decisions. ;)

My memory tells me it was during season 4, but it's probably more likely that it aired during a presidential election, which would have been season 3 in 1984. The problem is that I'm not even sure it aired during Knight Rider. As with other PSAs, it could have aired any time throughout the week.

Many cultures on this planet still do not allow voting to decide leaders. Its a liberty that many of us have taken for granted I feel. So make sure you use it... for there are many people out there who cannot do the same. :)

And yeah, I'd love to see this clip. lol

For some reason I can't get the image of KITT with a stars and stripes paint job out of my head... :P

Who knows, Kitt might be registered to vote this year, perhaps in both Ohio and Florida : ) I wonder what party Kitt would vote for?

Nonetheless, K.I.T.T. would have some very interesting input!

Being a bit silly here...
To vote, you have to be at least 18 years old. KITT is 22, so that's OK.
You must be born in the U.S. or become naturalized. I think we could consider KITT's activation in the U.S. a "birth" so that's OK.
But I think the lawyers might be able to argue that by definition, you must be a citizen to vote and you must be a person to be a citizen.

Is KITT a person? There might be a bizarre legal way to define KITT as a person, but I think that would have to happen before KITT would be allowed to vote.
