White Bird

I believe that white bird contains the best turbo boost of them all.

Bringing up "A Good Day At White Rock" again, there was a gigantic leap K.I.T.T. made in that episode as well. Though for the landing they had to cut to a different angle because you can totally see that the stunt car was about to land nose first.

Right you would think that they would understand that they needed to counterweight the engine.

The GDWR turbo boost was massive but the landing was brutal.

Not nearly as bad the jump in Slammin' Sammy's!!

Yes, White Bird's jump is pretty good. But I'm gonna have to go with the one in A Nice Indecent Little Town.

I don't know how the hell Jack Gill survived that crash. That stunt car flew so high and so wide and obviously got either severely or completely destroyed once it landed. How the entire front end didn't smash directly into Gill like an accordian and squash him is a miracle.

Jack Gill survived all his stunts because he was strapped so well inside the cabin, wearing fire retardant coveralls just in case the car caught fire after the landings. And the cabin itself is surrounded by safety rollbars so that it will protect him in all possible conditions.

Right and the car used for stunts was heavily modified i believe because if you look at some scences one from white bird where kitt turbo boosts over the gate to enter the airport youcan see that the entire front half of the car shakes as if it were completely fiberglass. Who knows what was underneath it. LOL It could have been a nascar quality saftey car.

Plus in that stunt the car must have flew about roughly 50 ft. It was montrous but the landing takes away from it for me. I still say the white bird one was the best complete turbo boost.

Actually almost the entire outer shell of the car (hood, fenders, doors, etc) is probably made of fiberglass. This is to ensure lightness so that the car may travel faster and soar higher. Huge modifications in the suspension and chassis were also done. The engine? I think they yanked out the stock Crossfire 305 V8 and replaced it with the more powerful and more reliable Chevy 350.

Fiberglass is the only material I can think of right now. Using actual paper or cardboard for the car's exterior would be unthinkable, it's not as rigid or safe as metal or fiberglass. In Nascar races, the cars use fiberglass and the waving effect is highly visible specially when the car's engine is being revved up.

Exactly - even though I have watched it several times, you can tell the car will not make it... I am surprised that they did not fix this before putting it on TV beforehand...

I think the reason was that it was such a massive turbo boost, they didn't want to redo it, and they wanted to show as much of the turbo boost as they could before they absolutely had to cut to another angle to avoid showing that stunt car being demolished. My guess is they just wanted to make it seem more believable because they actually did leap that car all the way to the other end as opposed to having to cut a few frames before and never showing the entire turbo boost. It would seem more like a waste of a big stunt and not doing it justice by not showing it in its entirety.

White Bird...what a good episode. I'm a woman, so I'm not afraid to admit I cried a few times while watching this episode. I also cry when I watch Let It Be Me at the end. Every time The Scent Of Roses was on, I never had the chance to watch it...god damn it........

The only problem with the turbo boost in that episode is that you can clearly see the ramp right before K.I.T.T. turbo boosts. They didn't even seem to try and hide it.

The thing is that I know what happens in the episode....I just want to be able to actually see and tape it. I have a mission to have all three Stevie episodes. I already have Let It Be Me

They did TRY to hide it. That Nova drives in front of it, but it was going to fast. BUt besides that, as far as landing goes (I know in the book Gill says the steering wheel fell off) looked aas though it would be pretty smooth.

AND it was one of the few Turbo Boosts shown in normal speed. Slow motion does indeed look cool for those jumps, but just seeing him soar between the allies at full speed is so cool!

K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"
