Maybe someone can help me out. Whenever I read stuff like this stating "Over 20,000 invested, yours for 5,000" What is really wrong with the car???

Yes, the seller described what is wrong with it, but that still sounds low for a car that he sure talked up.

It isn't just this auction. I have seen this many times when paging through car mags over the years.

Please, someone enlighten me,
Nick

Automobiles depreciate in value very quickly. The not-far-from-the-truth joke is if you buy a new car for $30,000, as soon as you drive it off the lot it's worth $25,000.

When you invest money in a home, that will typically raise the value of the home over the long run. But once a car is a few years old, all of that added-value disappears.

Think of it this way: If you buy a home for $100,000, in 10 years chances are you can sell it for $125,000. If you put money into it, you could probably get more. Now suppose you buy a car for $30,000. How much will you be able to get for it in 10 years? $5,000? $3,000? Even if you pump money back into it, an old car is still an old car.

Even the crooks in "Knight of the Juggernaut" knew this when they didn't want to steal KITT: "If you're gonna steal a car, it might as well be new."

Over 300 years since colonization, and thats your only claim to glory? I wonder how long your going to be milking that. :P still, it must have been nice to be thanked in the oscar ceremony, with the rest of the country. ;)

That is what you get when you cross KITT with Mad Max's Interceptor. Looks intresting...definitely Knight inspired. The pieces seem to go well together (except that hood I've always hated that hood it screams 80's), just that the fit and finish could be a lot better. Although no one can argue that that is one sweet ass engine and suspension set up.

my dream would be if i had no money probs

would be to have an xb falcon (madmaxstyledaussie car)

full mad max exterior , but knight inspired interior.
but have some how the driver in the center of the car,
full insturumentation ie f16 jet plane type set up ..
and with a custom styled kitt nose with scanner..

might work dunno
but i agree with aussieknight it sucks how much we have to pay
for a ta

Looks llike the auction ended just under 10k, which is below the unknown reserve price. I think 10k would have been a fair price for that vechicle, since it still needs alot of work to it.

Heh heh...looks like I didn't need to put you in your place, Rockatteer. :-P Still, wilderness has to be used for something, doesn't it. As the home for little furry footed people with pointy ears? Why not, I say! Hey Pete, how are your ears and feet? :-)
