Anyone know anything about this Kitt 3000 model??

Post by whet » Mon Sep 28, 2009 6:59 am

Just been looking on amazon uk and seen this model of the Kitt 3000..
As they say it's out of stock and there appears to be little discrption about it, I was wondering if anyone here knew if it was an offical model, and does it have a working scanner??

Many thanks..

Hi. This is just a Shelby Mustang GT500 KR, not an official Knight Rider release. It's a very nice model and can be modified but, alas, no scanner. Modelzone sell them for £35.

In case you were wondering, the KR stands for King of the Road.

It doesn't help that Amazon advertise it as "Knightrider 2008 Ready Made Diecast Car " :|

you can buy the shelby gt500kr as the last two letters denote knight rider in the model. the only difference is the film cars have to have more power and better wilwood brakes so the stunts can be performed safely as i saw a vid little explaining the cars very interesting :good: :kitt:

The car looks cool enough. I just wish that Shelby Collectables(or some die-cast company)would come out with a version of the KITT 3000 that does have the scanner and the license plate KNIGHT

It is a very attractive model. I bought the same thing from Toys-R-Us last February. KI3T was not modified that much, so except for the scanner, it comes looking like him.

The KR in GT500KR stands for 'King of the Road' which was a limited edition Shelby car in 1968 as well.
Besides their appearance, only three of the Knight Rider cars were modified mechanically. All were equipped with the big GT500KR Brembo brakes and for shots where KITT had to look like it was at least as powerful as a real GT500KR, one of the GT's was fit with a Ford Motorsports Whipple screw-type supercharger.
