Need for Speed - Shift is COMING SOON!

Post by Knight-Armen » Sun Mar 08, 2009 10:18 am

Hey guys,

Just wanted to announce two things. The first one is that Need for Speed - Shift is being prepped as we speak! It has been under developement for two years and is now being finialized. It will be released on three platforms: PC, PS3 and XBOX 360. Unfortunately they haven't revealed that much but as it turns out it's under developement by the people behind GTR 2 and the game will be very similar to what we have experienced in Forza Motorsport and Race Driver: Grid. The car list is yet to be revealed but I have a hunch they will at least have the GT500KR and the old '67 Shelby GT500 avaliable of course for our enjoyement. Meanwhile, here are some screenshots:

My second announcement is the Need for Speed Shelby Terlingua, a V6 powered engine Mustang produced by EA due to the release of the latest videogame of the Need for Speed series, Undercover. It was used to promote the game as it featured distinctive details like Need for Speed badges.

For those of you who wish to know a little bit more here's the link:

I'll be trying to inform you on the latest about Need for Speed Shift and indeed the car list! Until then, Enjoy! :good:
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway

I have a hunch they will include the 2010 Mustang too. They put the new Camaro in the Collectors Edition of NFS Carbon, so I think they may do the same for the Mustang and other models?

Yeah! Sorry, my bad! I was comparing the images from Shift and GTR and somehow I just uploaded the picture right here together with the Shift photos.

Hey Armen,

Is it the picture of the Saleen S7 you accidentally uploaded, cause I'll remove it for ya if you like?

Matt
Welcome aboard the Knight 2000.

Thank you. What's all this, it looks like Darth Vader's bathroom?

Hey Matt,

Yes, it would be great if you could go ahead and do that. The Saleen S7 pic does not belong to the Shift screenshots.

Thanks again Matt!

It seems strange to me that GM has never promoted a Pontiac vehicle in any games that I am aware of. They always have a Camaro and a Corvette but never a trans am/firebird or gto... I just don't understand.

Yes they did actually! The following models were featured in the past 4 NFS games:

ProStreet:

1965 Pontiac GTO
2006 Pontiac GTO
2006 Pontiac Solstice GXP

Carbon:

2006 Pontiac GTO

Most Wanted:

2004 Pontiac GTO

Underground 2:

2004 Pontiac GTO

I bet there are loads of other games than NFS who did feature Pontiac as well, perhaps you didn't pay close attention... :D

There was also an 82 Firebird in Project Gotham Racing 4 on the Xbox 360.

not wanting to appear anal, but nfs undercover was only released last year, and the deal with simbin to take over development of the series was done when undercover tanked in the ratings. i liked undercover more than carbon (its predecessor not counting Prostreet).

i'm looking forward to this release anyway.

I think EA was working on two titles at the same time. Undercover was developed by the EA Black Box team whereas Shift is now being prepped by Slightly Mad Studios. Why do you think EA went back to the old graphics and handling with Undercover? In terms of design... the works really, Most Wanted, Carbon and Undercover are pretty much one and the same. The only difference we can find here is the cars, tracks and upgrades.
ProStreet is miles away from these games and if I remember correctly they promoted the hell out of that game and as a result of that it selled like nothing before. It is obvious that EA had to do something in between ProStreet and Shift and the result was Undercover. Personally I think it was a huge set back but with Shift coming out this fall I'm sure EA will be back in the lead with one of the greatest racing titles ever!
