About the Hitari R/C KITT....

Post by RobWolf » Thu Dec 28, 2006 10:52 am

Hi guys. Merry Christmas!!!

I accidentally came across Hitari's new R/C KITT on eBay...they were going for upwards of £70 on normal auctions, but I got mine on Buy It Now for £35!!! Anyway, gorgeous model...sound clips aren't terribly good quality, but hey, IT'S A TALKING R/C KITT!! And the big bumper was a bonus for someone like me, who can't drive R/C cars for sh*t. Shame there isn't one on the back though, I managed to reverse mine into a wall.

Anyhoo...

How do you activate the so-called turbo boost?

Also...I could do with a high-quality glossy sticker of the license plate, to pop on the back. Can anyone help me out? Much obliged.

Anyone know where to get these in the US for about that much? Comet only ships to UK. :(

Just been to my local Comet and they appear to have sold out. There were only General Lees left. Just looked at reserving it and it's not available at either of the nearest stores so for some reason also cannot be delivered. Odd :?

The Turbo boost is just a little bit quicker by pushing the control fully forward rather than partially forward, thats its, sorry

Problem is, I don't have *that* kind of money. It's also why I never got the die cast models when they came out. Too expensive.

Looks like they've taken it off their site. Perhaps they just wanted to get rid of it so reduced it so much and removed it from their site

Thats what I fear, they reduced them right down to £5 and sold out in Comet shops a few days ago, now no-one (apart from 2nd had from ebay) seems to have them as no longer listed on Comet or Next.

I bought mine from Comet for £10 +£5 P&P. It arrived this morning. So SWEET! Fantastic start to the new year!

Been running mine on lino(leum). Love how is skids/slips a little because it can't grip the lino too well.

Only annoying thing is the scanner sound - it's very dirty. Needs some cleaning up.

Otherwise love it!

So can you buy a single one for $25? Can you PM me where from?

I bought one about 3 months ago for $60  that I'm turbo boosting with (made a ramp out of cardboard!), geez it goes very fast!

I'd like to keep another standby if (when) the MBS is comprimised :) and maybe consider just having another one left in the box for posterity ...

The turbo boost feature is not a real turbo boost. More like a 'Boost2' or 'Rocket Boost' feature. It makes KITT go faster. If you notice, when you press the left control stick forward, there's a sticking point about halfway. This is to drive at 'normal' speed. If you whack that stick to the top, the car travels much more quickly - the so-called 'turbo boost'.

I've only ever seen a real turbo boost feature on one R/C car before and it was a sports one with chunky wheels etc. Two little 'legs' would pop down, hit the ground and cause the toy to 'jump' a little. Not really much of a TB feature.

Geez, you're lucky, mine hears me playing with it and gets cranky with me when I don't let her have the remote control!
