Wasn't he sorta doing the same with the regular, non-SPM non-conv KITT? That is, taking credit where it isn't due?
From the "KITT" page on this very site:

Conspiracy? Hearsay? Gossip? Who knows? While George Barris likes to claim responsibility for the car, his only envolvement with the show is in it’s last season. His shop created the convertible and super pursuit mode cars for the show.
Heaven, where all QC only has to be run once.

I knew I read that somewhere which is why I started this other topic first; http://www.knightrideronline.com/phpbb/ ... 273#122273 before starting this one.
Still, I don't understand why only now Universal is taking any action. Where have they been?

He has taken credit for a lot of cars that weren't his. Such as his book shows the 60's bat mobile sitting next to the 1989 Bat mobile which he had absolutely nothing to do with.

"The real head-scratcher for me was, why is Universal just now taking action against George Barris, especially at a time where the studio is showing an all-time 'non-interest' in Back to the Future by yanking its simulator rides out of both U.S. theme parks?! As it turns out that Universal's legal department were simply oblivious about it until a recent investigation by L.A. Times reporter Bob Pool turned up Barris' long history of claiming credit for the DeLorean and refusing to dispel the impression otherwise."
My thoughts exactly. Makes me wonder what's going on with those boneheads over at Universal. And for that matter, I can't believe the creators of other "star cars" haven't aggressively come forward a long time ago in denouncing Barris' involvement with their vehicles as well. Is it that they respect him? Are they oblivious? Are they afraid to say anything? Or do they simply just not care?

Back in 05 when I attended the New York Auto Expo at the Nassau Colliseum, they had a Barris Representative next to a General Lee and a XxX movie car. I started talking to him and we then got into a breif arguement about the creator of KITT. He claims Barris created KITT and Micheal Scheiffe tried to claim credit. I wasnt letting that go down and he goe proved wrong by a 15 year old. (I was 15 at the time.) =D

Although Ron Cobb started the design of the DeLorean in BTTF, it was finished off/mostly designed by the GOD of vehicle design, Andrew "Airwolf, Street Hawk and two Enterprises" Probert. Barris had nothing to do with it, AFAIK.

BTW, am I the only guy who's p*ssed off at Uni for getting rid of the BTTF ride? I always wanted to go on that someday. What gets me though is that they are replacing it with a SIMPSONS RIDE. That's at least five years after the Simpsons stopped being fresh and funny. Plus the Movie is going to kill it (if there's any justice). The Simpsons is old hat, and was outclassed the second Family Guy went on the air. And yet Fox is still flogging the dead horse, and not giving Family Guy the support it gives the Sh*tsons. Buy all means, build a Simpsons ride, but don't get rid of BTTF to do it. I know which of the two franchises will still be talked about in twenty years time.
Anyone know of any 'Save the BTTF Ride' campaigns?

I had no idea Universal was getting rid of the BTTF ride until I read this thread. I rode it years ago and it was my favorite ride there and it's a shame they're removing it for the Simpsons, which sounds pretty lame to me. At least I still have my BTTF t-shirt and a picture of the DeLorean to remember it by.
