If I had a time machine I would use it for one thing only and go back to kmart or walmart and buy like 5 of those cars since I was 5 and not knowing how much they would be worth. That's the one item that goes up in value every year on Ebay, especialy with the box. That's the ultimite Knight Rider item. :D

Congrats on your purchase! Now your KR collection will be complete with the Kenner KITT. However, I think you will have some difficulty in trying to squeeze your way inside the car to replace Michael. But in case you manage to do it, wear a leather jacket, jeans and wig for authenticity.

The Mike Knight figure never fails to crack me up. It's just so cheesy and slapped-together. Put a 'fro and a leather jacket on 'Generic Playmates Male Sculpt #4' and volia! Insta-Hasselhoff!

But the job Playmates did on KITT is amazing, especially considering that he's over 20 years old! Yours looks pretty good for its age, Josch.

That's a nice Kenner you have there Josch. However it needs to be disassembled and cleaned inside and out. It will look a thousand times better after cleaning and waxing, trust me.

Does the voice mechanism work? If it doesn't, perhaps you can disassemble the voice box and see what's wrong inside. All in all, now your KR collection is complete. Congrats! 8)

has yours got variable speed as using the faster speed helps to free off the mechanism, i've never had to take them apart to get them going. Just a good powerful battery.

Good thing the voice mechanism works! Based on your pics, the car is slightly covered with dust inside and out (probably from years of display in an open environment). To clean the interior you will have to unscrew the nuts under the car and then unfasten the four clips holding the chassis to the body (two clips under each door). You will need a rather large flathead screwdriver draped in cloth to do this.

When the interior is detached from the body, cleaning the cabin compartment is now a snap. I used a computer cleaner solvent and a clean cloth to remove dust particles on the seats, dash, windshield and floorboard. Don't get the dash decals wet though, they will deteriorate.

The outer body shell I washed first with mild soap and water. After drying I waxed with Turtle Wax car wax (I could not afford real plastic modeling wax). For hard to clean areas like the front bumper light assemblies, use small cotton buds.

Take note, do not wax the red Knight 2000 badgings on the doors. They tend to bleed off, so do take care not to erase them.

It's not easy to do and it requires a significant amount of time...but cleaning and shining it is fun and specially gratifying when done. 8)

Honda has given you some great advice, I turtle waxed mine to make it shine, becareful when cleaning it initially as I once used a old toothbrush and it scratched the platsic.
