That nose was made for the demo of Knight Rider. It was old footage from the segment they taped to sell the show. (Universal)

Looks like they did a low-budget fiberglass fill job on the original Trans Am front nose, or blacked it out. This original design had no foglights. Later KITT had foglights. They are pretty much needed when you have pop-up eyes on a car because those motors tend to burn out leaving one up and not the other, etc. So to see in the dark you still want to have some backup - like foglights. Besides the extra lights, when lit, made KITT look more like a UFO! Really cool.

someone on here said that due to time a budget reasons, that was the nose used in the pilot they went to the company with the get the show on. then when it was greenlit, they redid the pilot using footage from the "demo" with that car in it.
be interesting to see JUST the demo they used to sell the show.
