Anyone name their cars?

Post by knightshade » Mon Jan 31, 2005 7:27 pm

What can I say, I'm feeling chatty today.

So does anyone else name their cars? And by that I mean give them an actual name that other people hear you use.

My car's name is Slippers because the official name of the paint color is Ruby Red. And cars, among their other duties of course, take you home. So I went with the Wizard of Oz reference.

Anyone else?

I am totally unoriginal....my Chevy Corsica is simply known as
"The Corsica" yet she's my baby. :) I'll probably come up with a better name for the car I'm going to buy this summer.

When I was a kiddo I named our Chevy Nova "Gonzo" since it was blue.

My LeBaron's previous owner called it Tweety Bird, cause it was yellow. I just call it the "'Baron". I call my Monte Carlo "The Monte", and my Cavalier its name, sometimes by "the Cavy", but that is rare.

I don't think guys name their cars. I mean maybe some do. I am not one of them at least.

Well, we always named ours what they were, "Zephyr" (1979 Mercury Zephyr), "Volare" (Plymouth Volare), etc. But when I got my pickup truck, a lemon of a Chevy S-10, my dad named it "Slushbox" because it had automatic transmission and he thought trucks should only have standard. :)

My current car is named Dryden. Click link below to learn more about him. He's quite a beloved car and a great runner! :) I wanted a tech/industrial/robotic name for him and it fits him real good. He's rough, rugged, dependable, sturdy. And fast for a 4-cyl. sedan. :)

My friend calls her car Guiselle after a ballet dancer because the Dodge Shadow seemed to respond well.

Another friend of mine has several cars. His 6000 he named "Spankey", he has a couple firebirds, Lady Jade and Big Red. He had another named Black-T which got sold so he could buy Truffles, his Olds Torfeo. :) He also had (or has, I forgot which) a late 70's Trans Am named Bandit II. So yeah, guys do name their cars. I know of other cars in the 6000 club, one named "Grey Ghost" which got a nice headliner job done by the owner recently.

It all depends on how much you really care for and love your car, I guess.

We name all our vehicles, Bob, Aaron, Noise Mobile and a name I honestly can't say on this board  One day I hope to make a replica and name it Replakitt and also a truck version of KITT named LUV (large, ugly vehicle).

I named my 97 honda accord "shorty". I am actually putting her in car shows this summer, and to show my huge interest in knight rider I actually bought a new grill for her, and purchased a blue programmable knight rider scanner for the front. I got the grill sent away to get a custom fiber glass job and it came out so good. I will take pictures, and a movie clip of it soon.

Well, my 1994 Dodge Caravan is named A.R.C. 4. Why? My first vehicle was a 1980 Chevy pickup, then came a 1986 Cavalier, and then a 1989 Beretta (my personal favorite of all three). A.R.C. stands for
A Anderson
R Roaring
C Chevy

4 (the fourth vehicle I've driven)

Oh, Crovax Ws-6.
Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!!
My Beretta was red with a sunroof. The best part was the sttering wheel. Even though it was circular, I always drove with my hands on either side if the horn, so it felt like I was driving KITT! Actually, once you get used to driving this way, it's much easier to turn corners without touching any other part of the wheel.

i dub my '04 Grand Am the "Dragon Rider" or just "Drag" sometimes due to the dragon seatcovers and other things i have in it.

Well, I always planned on naming my '65 Ford Mustang I'm working on "Trigger Hippie", after a song by group called Morcheeba.

I currently drive a late 80s VW Cabrolet (somewhat similar to the VW Rabbit). I thought about calling it Mako (seeing that its a shiney blue color), but have changed my mind I just call it "Blue", seeing that after work, when I was ready and eager to get home, I would say "Blue! My car is blue!" (I did it often as a joke).

Nice firebird! Well deserving of the name. And he looks quite happy to be home with you, too. :)

Do let us know about your adventures with KITT. :)
