Is it just me, or would the folks at Davilex be wise to ask people who have made really good KITT replicas to send them tons of photos of the exterior and interior of their replicas? It seems like their best resource -- fans -- would also be the easiest and least expensive to obtain.

It makes me want to get to work on my own replica someday.

Someday...

Okay, never. D'oh!

Seriously the site is very cool. The car's owner does a great job making the car seem like a real KITT, with the downloadable videos and all, and the step-by-step photos are cool, too.

At the time the TV show introduced KITT's Super Pursuit Mode, Kenner's M.A.S.K. toy line was popular. Since Kenner also made the Knight 2000 Voice Car and other Knight Rider toys, I had hoped that they would have made a "M.A.S.K." version of KITT that would convert from "regular mode&...

I can honestly say that I never noticed that miniatures were used to represent KITT in later seasons.

Then again, I haven't seen many later-season episodes in many years.

^ That's cool. Here in the US we have a cable station called the Sci-Fi Channel. I dropped cable TV service several months ago, but with the really awesome new Battlestar Galactica mini-series that aired last week, I might have to get cable service again if the new BG becomes a weekly TV series. I l...

Of course all of this begs the question....of all KITT's systems why did the voice have to have its own monitor. None of his other functions had separate activity monitors. Maybe since KITTs speech and voice recognition abilities are his most advanced. If that's the case, then KITT's voice graph sh...

As much as I love the old Trans Ams, they're old at this point, so I wouldn't buy one. If I really wanted to build a KITT mock-up, I'd be just as inclined to design a custom version myself than to build an exact replica of one from the TV series. I'd be more interested in making a "later model&...

^ The "pods" attached to the steering column, each of which contained a cluster of buttons. The Turbo Boost button, for example, was on the right switch pod. I seem to remember the Season 3/4 switch pods consisting of two columns of indicator lights, with a single column of tiny buttons. E...

In the strictest sense, as long as the AI was always on, the dash didn't need any buttons. I realize that when he's in manual override you would need them. But if it was perma-AI, you could just tell KITT when you wanted to do something. And damn I want that car...lol Technically Michael could have...

Just thought of something, what about slient mode, I like that mode. Guess it would be the same as the rest of them. Good question! In the case of my redesign, I interpreted the term "mode" to refer to an engine configuration that's optimized for a certain performance level. Cruise Mode, ...

It's a fine idea, but kinda impractical. In your scheme, to change KITT to auto crusie you have to hit 2 buttons, maybe just one, but to go to auto-pursuit, you need 2. It's kinda crazy to have to hit 2 buttons when one button does both. And if you need KITT to change to auto cruise quickly, hittin...
