I saw the 1:43 in Modelzone yesterday but did not buy it as I'm holding out for the 1:18. Interestingly, the staff there told me that the Elite will now be out in APRIL instead of this month. No idea why.

I'm not sure but it does look like the scanner is made up of individual lights unlike the Hot Wheels test video where the scanner looked "seamless" like KI3T's.

Judging by the stress in KITT's voice at the time when he was picked up, I also believe he wasn't thinking clearly. I know that sounds comical for a computer to behave that way but KITT did develop emotions by that point. But Michael did bring up the good point about KITT not picking up the forklift...

The thing is you could always see the cover covering the back seat driver whenever KITT drove himself apart from in season 4 when they put the seat further back. To overcome the problem during season 1-3, they could have used better camera angles.

KITT probably needs traction to turbo boost but why he didn't microjam the forklift is a wonder.

If we are talking about the real world, the SPM console probably wasn't in the car itself. In fact, I am 99% certain it wasn't. But in the show I imagine it to be situated underneath the dash although how Michael would not accidentally hit the wrong button is hard to imagine.
