I expect the release to be 4 single-sided DVDs, with approx. 5 episodes per disc.

I certainly don't think Knight Rider is dead. It'll be back, whether as a motion picture or TV movie, or maybe another series somewhere down the line. I don't think a straight-to-DVD movie is being unrealistic if the series sells well. Time will tell.

For the most part, the Region 2 sets are the same as the Region 1 versions -- missing Prince songs, same issues with sound effects (Season 3), and some cropped shots. The first season is slightly different... it includes the pilot episode as a bonus feature on the last disc, and there are no teasers...

Those scenes were a big part of the Original Series, and were a really cool way to introduce Michael and K.I.T.T. at the start of each episode -- you know: a crime is committed, then you cut to Michael and K.I.T.T. speeding down the highways to the theme tune. As others have said earlier in this thread, Michael and K.I.T.T. were always presented as "buddies" -- it was The Lone Ranger and Silver (with the voice of Tonto :) ) in modern times. To give K.I.T.T. a female voice would have been too much of a distraction... think about the scenes when K...
