Knight Rider on I Love the 80s VH1

I caught KR on I Love the 80s on VH1 today, and got the whole thing on tape. (And pardon me if this has already been discussed; I tend to be two weeks behind on these boards). It was nicely done, and had a lot of glowing commentary from a variety of actors. Has anyone seen it? allen http://www.allen...

Let's Talk about April

I know it was on recently, but did they explain why Bonnie vanished to be replaced by April? Do we like April? Is she a worthy "addition" or do we like Bonnie better? I like Bonnie more than April. Michael had a better rapport with Bonnie than April, and sometimes I think April's trying to...

If Michael were an actual employee, then US labor laws would apply to him, and he would have to make at least minimum wage. I believe Michael is paid, although he must have spent his money between episodes. I mean, he would have to save his money anyway--he couldn't work for FLAG his entire life, co...

ARG! Nice Indecent Little Town AGAIN!

With just a small handful of episodes left before the big Twilight Zone marathon ends our run of KR, Sci-Fi surprises us tonight with an encore airing of Nice, Indecent Little Town. It was just on!

I was all set to watch Merchants of Death.

Sigh.

Michael at the Casino in "Goliath Part II"

First off, I just have to comment on Garthe's hair. He's spent the past several years in an African prison, and when he returns to the States, he has a blown-dry hairstyle identical to Michael's. And then there's the goatee. That added touch always makes a person the villain. How does KITT manipulat...

How street legal is KITT?

I've often wondered how street legal the conversion actually is. I know that many states in the US forbid the use of red lights on any vehicle except emergency vehicles. Also, I've heard that KITT's extended nose is not legal since there isn't a bumper. What do you think? Allen http://www.allensedge...

Would you buy a 1982 TransAm?

If you were looking for a new or used car--just a car for your basic transportation to and from work etc.--and you came across a 1982 or 83 TransAM in reasonably good shape, would you buy it? I mean, assuming here you could afford a decent enough new or used car (say in the $8 to $10K range), and yo...

Wow, all the posters here in this thread are making me feel OLD! I watched it when I was 12 when the show was new. I was getting heavily into cars at the time, and I was very interested in technology, and thought KR was a wonderful show, for any and all of the reasons that have already been mentione...

Mike,
Thanks for the link. I missed that thread, and so I read through all the posts and saw that the topic was debated and debated already. I'm two weeks behind! Sigh.

Well, if anyone wants to comment here, that'd be great.

I agree that coincidences happen. Amazing coincidences happen in real life that are hard to believe, but nevertheless they do happen. And I had another thought along this same topic; something that doesn't quite fit into the timeline. In the episode, Knight of the Drones (with the boombox that turns...

Trust Doesn't Rust Transam Question

Trust Doesn't Rust showed recently on sci-fi. I've always enjoyed that one, seeing KARR, and the two goobers who steal him, and how KITT reacts to seeing the prototype, etc. Devon explains that KARR was the prototype model that Wilton Knight had created, and put into service and de-activated about s...

Another thing I thought was funny was how when Bonnie first brought out SID, and it floated around "talking," everyone just stared at it--almost disbelievingly. The look on Michael's face was hilarious. Even Bonnie looked doubtful.

SID is some kind of Miracle Technology

I think Bonnie went over the top with her design of SID. It's supposed to be a stealth device, so while it flies around, it continuously emits some kind of electronic voice. So, if the bad guys don't SEE SID, they'll certainly hear it. This device floats around everywhere. How does this work? Do the...

This is a valid question, now I'm curious! I wonder how KITT would survive being slammed in the side by a train. My feeling is that there would HAVE to be some damage, minor or not. At least the electronics in KITT's systems would have to be jolted pretty hard. I know that the car body has the MBS, ...

KITT's Audible Scanner Noise

I saw this question posted on the KR blooper website, and thought it was such a terrific question, that I thought I'd share it with this community. Apologies in case this issue has been discussed already. When KITT is "scanning," that is, his red light is going back and forth, can anyone o...

I remember the Mad that parodied Dukes, only it was called "Dopes of Haphazard." It seems like the artwork was akin to the artwork in Knut Rider, though, by the same artist. I'm not sure if I have that one in my collection. I've since emailed the scans of Knut Rider to neps, and he will ha...

Knut Rider in Mad Magazine

My recent daily watching of KR drove me to locate the issue of Mad Magazine out of the boxes of Mads that featured Knut Rider. The issue is Sep 1983, #241, and is based on the first season of KR, I believe. The artwork, by Angelo Torres, is remarkably good. All of KITT's TransAm body exteriors are v...

One more thing

Almost forgot the other point I wanted to make regarding my "later seasons" comment. I meant that KR only lasted four seasons, and when we watch KR now, this is all we will ever see: the four seasons. We'll never get to see new episodes of KR (from a pretend season 5 and beyond), we only h...

Newbie followup

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I have to admit that I have not seen all episodes of KR since the early 80s, and I was able to catch a few on USA in the early 90s. But until only recently have I been able to actually sit down and watch KR closely. I had forgotten about what Wilton Knight had said about...

Observations from Newbie

I've visited these boards often, and have recently become a member. Like most everyone else here, I watched and loved KR when I was a kid, and enjoy watching it now, nitpicking it more than before. I find it difficult to believe that Bonnie is able to singlehandedly completely rebuild and upgrade KI...
